Another target reached in trams project

TESTING of an extension to Edinburgh’s tram system was completed last night, as a tram was driven at walking pace down the city’s Leith Walk.
The extension is taking the network from York Place, in Edinburgh’s east end, down Leith Walk and on to Newhaven, by the Firth of Forth.
The walking pace allowed engineers to monitor the new track’s performance.
Says the local authority, here: “Ahead of the route opening for service in spring [this year], a period of testing and commissioning is required to ensure the newly-constructed line, software and signals work effectively and safely.”
