Community park hailed at awards celebrating Scotland’s nature

A COMMUNITY park in the Aberdeenshire town of Inverurie has been named a winner at an awards ceremony celebrating the best of Scotland’s nature.

The Ury Park was named winner of the Community Initiative category prize at the Nature of Scotland Awards 2022, organised by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

Highly commended at the awards (here) was a Tayside initiative, monitoring local swift populations.

Said the judges of Ury Park: “Ury Riverside Park is a 60ha community park for people and wildlife to enjoy together. The park is being developed by the community for the community from a former barley field to create somewhere special for wildlife and people. A great place to walk, jog, volunteer to help create habitats or watch wildlife.”
