‘Cool street’ accolade for Great Western Road

ONE of the main thoroughfares in Glasgow has been named the third ‘coolest’ street in the world.

Great Western Road was named in a listing revealed by the cultural and entertainment media outlet, Time Out.

The accolade as the ‘world’s third coolest street’ follows – says Time Out, here – the ‘quizzing’ of “20,000 city-dwellers and… local experts to rank the top streets in the world for food, fun, culture and community”.

Top spot went to Rue Wellington, Montreal, Canada, with the No.2 berth taken by Gertrude Street, Melbourne, Australia.

Begins Time Out’s description of Great Western Road: “When the sun sets down the tree-lined barrel of Great Western Road in summertime, it feels like anything is possible.”

The only other UK street in the listing is Deptford High Street, London, at No.17.
