Extra cycle storage pods poised for Glasgow

SEVENTY new bike storage pods are to be installed across Glasgow – to take the total in the city up to 200.
But, says the city council – which is carrying out the installation – there are 2,750 people on the scheme’s waiting list, with the council saying it is “working as quickly as possible to meet demand and help support a greater reliance on cycling as an ordinary mode of transport”.
The 70 pods are expected to be in place by the middle of next month.
Says a council announcement, here: “In a report to the council’s Environment Committee in March 2022, it was confirmed that 120 storage units are planned for each of the next three years to try and meet demand for space. This expansion will ensure that 720 cycle parking spaces per year will become available through the scheme.”
