Glasgow celebrates ‘affordable’ homes achievement

MORE than 2,000 ‘affordable’ homes were built, refurbished, started or given the go-ahead in Glasgow during the last financial year.
Says a city council announcement, the overall total of 2,115 comprised 879 completions, 795 starts on new-builds or refurbishments, and approval for 441 homes – during the financial year 2021/22. It involved £111.2million of funding from the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme.
A council announcement, here, notes: “The AHSP is allocated through discussion between the council, registered social landlords and private developers, with the aims of creating not only socially-rented homes to meet housing need, but also encourage the building of mid-market rent, shared-equity and low-cost home ownership housing.”
