Glasgow to use CPO powers to acquire residential properties

COMPULSORY purchase order powers are to be used by Glasgow’s local authority, to acquire four residential properties in the city.
Says the city council, here, the CPOs are being to used to acquire “three flats and a mid-terrace house in three different areas in the city which have been long-term empty homes, which would then be transferred to housing associations [Wheatley Group, Southside Housing Association and Govanhill Housing Association] for use as affordable housing”.
The announcement adds: “The CPOs would lead to an increase in affordable housing supply, remove neighbourhood blight, and will ensure the future maintenance of these properties.
“The owners will be entitled to seek compensation for the loss of their property from the date of confirmation, in accordance with statutory provisions.”
