Latest design images unveiled for Buchanan Galleries

COMMENTS are being sought on the latest stage of designs, to revamp a major shopping centre on one of Glasgow’s main thoroughfares.

Artist impressions have been unveiled by the property developers, Landsec, concerning its plans to reconfigure Buchanan Galleries – on the city’s Buchanan Street – as “an exciting, new, net zero mixed-use urban district in the heart of Glasgow city centre, blending world-class shopping with places to work, live and play”.

Says a Landsec media release: “Artist’s impressions and initial concepts have been released to give an early view of the evolving plans and outline key design principles, which reflects feedback from the first stage public consultation, and will be tested as part of the second stage events. The illustrative images show how replacing the existing Buchanan Galleries building, would create more green and public spaces, street level shops and restaurants and better connectivity across the city.”

Comments can be registered, here.

The plans would – if approved – involve the loss of an estimated 2,000 car parking spaces.
