Lights shine on visitors to Aberdeen

ALMOST 100,000 lightbulbs, 750m of cabling and 70,000 microchips have gone into the manufacture (carried out locally) of a welcome sign for visitors to Aberdeen.

Two metre-high lettering, spelling out ABERDEEN, was overnight erected in the Castlegate area of the city, with hopes that it will provide a digital media success, attracting more people to the city.

Says one of the several partners involved in the project, Scotland’s Towns Partnership, here: “Aberdeen joins other cities around the globe which have a similar focal point, including Edinburgh, Toronto and the iconic Amsterdam letters.”

Key among the partners is local ‘business improvement district’, Aberdeen Inspired.
