More houses for Athletes’ Village site

MORE housing is to be added to the site used as the athletes’ village during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – since given over to affordable housing for local people.
A total of 125 homes are to be added to the original 700 flats and houses built for the Games.
Originally, it was going to be an initial 49 homes, followed by the remaining 76, on account of the availability of all the necessary land.
But, says the local authority – here – the extra land has now become available and Glasgow City Council has agreed to press on with both phases.
Construction is expected to begin towards the end of this year.
