Passivhaus Awards title for Stirlingshire self-build

A SELF-build home in the Stirlingshire village of Kippen has been recognised in awards celebrating buildings constructed or retrofitted to the exacting energy efficiency standard, Passivhaus.

Ostro Passivhaus (here) – designed and built by its residents, architect Mhairi Grant and her Paper Igloo architecture practice fellow director, Martin McCrae – was named a joint winner of the Residential category of the awards (here), hosted by the Passivhaus Trust.

The other joint winner was Cannock Mill Cohousing (here), in Colchester, Essex.

The other winners were:

Non-domestic: Hackbridge Primary School (here), London;

Retrofit: Bowman’s Lea EnerPHit (here), London; and

Non-domestic (People’s choice): Erne Campus Passivhaus Premium (here), Enniskillen, Northern Ireland
