Pigeons return to roost on Elm Row

A SET of sculptures – of pigeons – that were removed 17 years ago, have been re-instated on the Edinburgh street of Elm Row, where they were first installed.

The eight bronze birds – by sculptor, Shona Kinloch – had been removed when work first began on a tram line at the top of the city’s Leith Walk.

Says the city council, here: “Passenger services on the tram line to Newhaven launched on June 7, with the project delivered on schedule and within the £207.3m budget.

“Outstanding public realm works are ongoing in some sections, including on Elm Row and Blenheim Place, which are scheduled to be completed during [next month].”
