Place-related initiatives to the fore in Scottish Budget for 2022-23

SOME £150m has been earmarked for improved cycling, walking and ‘wheeling’ infrastructure – in the latest Scottish Government budget.
The budget – announced (here) by Scottish Government Finance Secretary, Kate Forbes – is for the years 2022-23, and there are several ‘place’-related initiatives contained within it, as well as encouraging ‘active travel’ and hoping to reduce car miles.
In among the ambitions, including £18bn for health and social care, £831 million has been identified for affordable housing, “progressing [the government’s] commitment to deliver 110,000 affordable, energy-efficient homes by 2032”.
Also, £123 million has been targered “to protect and restore nature, [for] woodland creation and the sustainable management of Scotland’s woodlands”.
