Plans being pursued to bolster Inverness

PLANS are being pursued to bolster the city of Inverness, following endorsement from local councillors, and then – reportedly – the backing of a Scottish Government minister.

Begins a local authority announcement, here: “Highland Council recently agreed to adopt the ‘Inverness 2035’ vision alongside its ambitious Inverness Strategy that aims to better co-ordinate development and investment taking place across the city.”

A ’roundtable’ meeting on Monday – attended by Scottish Government minister, Tom Arthur MSP – saw The Press and Journal newspaper reporting, here, that half a billion pounds’ worth of investment had been earmarked to ‘create a modern Highland capital’.

A similar angle was reported also by The National newspaper, here.

Says a previous council announcement, here: “The ‘Inverness Strategy’ aims to make a strong case for future funding in the city and to help partners and communities work better together.  Members [councillors] agreed that the Inverness Futures Group ‘Inverness One City, One Vision‘, facilitated by Drew Hendry MP, is integrated into the overall vision for the city.”
