Rose Street: food and drink

ALTHOUGH it’s not explicitly marketed as such, Edinburgh’s Rose Street can reasonably lay claim to be Edinburgh’s ‘food and drink street’.
But it’s an ever-changing roster of operators.
Which means it can be helpful to occasionally take a snapshot of who is operating, where and when.
Starting at the west end and moving eastwards (recognising that there are north and south sides to the street), at the time of writing the Rose Street Theatre, and the cafe it at least used to house, was closed.
Moving swiftly on:
Fierce Bar (bar)(N), Scotts of Rose Street (bar)(S), Ginger Cafe (S), Dirty Dicks (bar)(N), Rose Street Cafe (S), Wildfire Scottish steak and seafood bistro (S), Miros Cantina Mexicana restaurant (S), Zara’s Bistro (S), Dough (pizza) (S), Rose & Crown (bar)(S), The Shoogly Peg (bar)(N), The Black Cat (bar)(S) and a side entrance to The Amber Rose (bar)(S).
In the next block: Social Bite (cafe)(N), Patisserie Valerie (S), The Kenilworth (bar)(S), Indian Lounge (Indian and Punjabi dining)(N), The Shack (retro bar and club)(N), Flying Panda (‘bubble tea’, soufflé pancakes and bites)(S), element (bar)(S), Artisan Coffee (N), and Istanbul (fast food)(S).
In the next block: Boozy Cow (bar, exit only)(S), Meze Meze (Mediterranean kitchen)(N), Auld Hundred (pub and dining)(S), Mussel Inn (seafood restaurant)(N), The Rose St Brewery (bar)(N), Veeno (Italian wine cafe)(S), Stack & Still (pancakes)(N), The Black Rose Tavern (bar)(N), Robertsons Bar 37 (bar)(N), and Lounge (cocktails, bar food, coffee, breakfast)(S). Please note, between the Black Rose Tavern and Robertsons Bar 37, there is ‘Latin bar and pool lounge’, Señor Dogs (N), but it was closed at the time of researching. Also, there was evidence of work taking place on premises for an Italian restaurant run by the chain, Tony Macaroni (S).
In the next block: Milnes of Rose Street (bar)(N), Greggs (bakery chain)(N), soon-to-open Roxy Lanes (pizza, cocktails, hot dogs and games)(S), Rose Street Gardens (back of The Dome bar and restaurant on George Street)(N), and The Abbotsford Bar (bar and restaurant)(N).
