Shortlisting recognition for retrofit of Glasgow tenement block

A GLASGOW tenement block has been recognised in awards celebrating the best retrofitting projects in the UK.

107 Niddrie Road – being overseen by local practice, John Gilbert Architects – has been nominated in the housing category of the Retrofit Awards, run by trade magazine, Architects’ Journal.

Says John Gilbert Architects, of the project: “[It] was designed to the EnerPHit methodology (Passivhaus for retrofit) and features ultra-high levels of insulation and airtightness combined with new heating and ventilation systems.

“These measures will drastically reduce energy bills for the tenants while providing them with a comfortable and healthy internal environment.”

The awards have been unveiled in two parts, as noted here.

The practice is up against seven other nominees.
