Views sought on how to license the capital’s short-term lets

VIEWS are being sought on how the licensing scheme, involving short-term lets in Edinburgh, should be structured.
Says The City of Edinburgh Council, here: “Earlier this year, the Scottish Parliament approved legislation to introduce a new licensing scheme, which the council called for. It will address issues of safety, anti-social behaviour and noise and will come into effect in October of this year. Existing hosts and operators will have until 1 April 2023 to apply for a licence and all STLs will be required to have a licence by 1 July 2024.”
The announcement adds: “The Council’s consultation – which runs until the 10 June 2022 – is asking questions on what additional measures should be introduced in the licensing scheme for Edinburgh over and above what is already laid out in the legislation approved by [the Scottish] Parliament.”
